“The cottage” is in Vineyard Street, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. GL545LP
We stumbled upon “The Cottage” when we decided to go for a walk along the glorious Cotswold way on a sunny morning in June 2013. We loved it at first sight and knew it would make a fabulous holiday cottage. Winchcombe is a delightful town with honey coloured stone cottages lining the winding streets. It is nestled between the vale of Evesham and the Cotswold Hills which gives easy access to the Cotswold way and Winchcombe way for some terrific walks with incredible views. This is the ideal cottage from which to explore the Cotswold countryside. It is within walking distance to Winchcombes shops including a fabulous deli and many excellent pubs and restaurants.
Vineyard Street has a row of charming cottages on either of the street with trellised porches covered in roses in the summer. Vineyard Street is also known as Duck street on account that a ducking stool was positioned at the banks of the adjacent River Isbourne. This was a device rather like a see-saw with a chair at one end upon which a malicious gossip or minor offender was made to sit to be repeatedly ducked into the water.
